Routine Tests
These tests are needed both for the insurance approval process and to better prepare you for surgery. Tests will vary depending on the type of insurance and health condition of each patient. Your surgeon and insurance company will determine which you will need.
The tests may include but are not limited to:
- Lab Work
- Ultrasound of the Gallbladder
- Nutrition Evaluation
- Psychological Consult
- Endoscopy
- 3, 6 or 12-month diet and exercise program
- Cardiology Consult
- Anesthesia Consult
- Vascular Consult
- 5-year weight history
- Pulmonary Consult
- Any other tests deemed necessary by your surgeon
Some of our patients will need to be seen by the anesthesia department before their surgery. This will be done if you weigh more than 350 pounds or if your insurance company requires it. During this visit, an anesthesiologist will talk with you about the risks of being put to sleep during surgery.
